named;; Katie Jade Teethen
nicknamed;; Kat, Kate, Jaden, Freckles
aged;; twenty-two years
sex;; female
height;; 5' 7''
weight;; 107lbs.
hair;; dark brown
eyes;; amber
appearance;;
A lanky girl, Katie has long limbs that she inherited from her mother. She has fine fingers and thin brown hair that reaches just below her shoulders. Unintentionally, she is sometimes unaware of her being anorexic for long periods of times, causing her to be on the bridge of an unhealthy weight. She is average height, with an average face. Stunning, deep eyes that can captivate you when she cries, but for the most part she is very plain. Also, she carries two tattoos - one of a star on her hip bone, another of a dragonfly etched into her ankle. At one point, long ago, she had her navel pierced, but it has all but disappeared by now.
persona;;
From a distance, Katie is so perfect. She can be so beautiful, she has intelligence, she's pulled it together. But there's one thing that destroys that look - it isn't true. None of it is real.
The real Katie is one messed up girl. She's gone through a lot of things that she hardly cares to share and they've shaped her in ways she wishes she could change. Sarcasm is like blood for her, flowing freely throughout her veins. For the most part though, she keeps herself sweet and polite. Shy isn't in her vocabulary - but she is very good at hiding the truth and a wonderful actress - in terms of acting to cover something up, that is. She's outspoken and a bit too impulsive sometimes. She never panics and most of the time, she's the girl with all the answers. However sometimes she can be quite mistaken. All her life, Katie has worried about the state of everyone around her and neglected herself. It's her way of keeping her faults out of sight, and not having to think about her problems. She can make almost anyone fall for her, not intentionally, but because she has unknowingly taught herself to be able to scam people - and that she can do, to almost anyone, living or dead. But beneath the issues she faces from day to day, if you look close enough, she is a good person. You just have to take the effort to look for that person.
likes;; lilies, converse, the beach, skinny dipping, soft kisses, spontaneous leaps of faith, sand in your hair, quick-witted humor, gentlemen who aren't just looking to sleep with you, pillow fights, dogs, black coffee with sugar, books, going barefoot, friendship and true love.
dislikes;; flip-flops, plans, being squeaky clean, men who want nothing more than you in their bed, con-artists, guns, stealing, poetry, fancy coffee drinks and onions.
past;;
Born to unmarried parents on August 27th, Katie Jade quickly became her grandmother's little girl. At the time, both her parents were living with Marie, the grandma, and it couldn't have been more perfect. In Boulder, Colorado, Katie lived in the happy family for a good year before the travesty of a life really took a turn for the worst. And that it did, starting with her parents.
Lisa and Andy, her mother and father, were just not ready to cope with parenthood. They were young and free, still able to start a new life if they left now - so they did. They abandoned Katie, leaving her with Marie. So that was the start.
From there Katie met her best friend, Lily, who would be her companion and confidant for the next thirteen years. A long story turned short, at fourteen Katie ran away, for many reasons, but mainly to show her grandma Marie that she didn't need help to survive. Probably because it was instinct, learned from her parents, but she'd never say that.
The plan was that she'd run away for only a week, but when her beloved dog was run over Katie broke the rules and left. She ran to Nevada, became a pick-pocket (and horribly good one at that), and met Taylor. Perhaps it was the shock of being on her own, but for some reason she thought she'd fallen in love with Taylor, a nasty bit of a boy who was almost two years older than she, and swooning over him uncontrollably, she slept with him.
From there it went sour. She called Lily to tell her of her sorrows and try to apologize but Lily was furious with her for being gone so long - actually, three months gone. And it got bad. Taylor was a drunk, Katie was stealing like wild, the sex happened regularly without protection, and then there was the abuse. Yeah, Taylor started beating her on his drunk rampages and there wasn't a thing she could do about it. She tried to leave - he found her. She ran away - he brought her back. She had herself trapped.
She started smoking. They rented a house together. She stole more and more, he drank more and more. Sometimes, in lack of money, she resorted to prostitution for income, just to make him happy. And to make it all worse, she thought she deserved it. She thought her actions were being paid for by this. They weren't. No one deserved such punishment.
At fifteen and a half, Katie got pregnant with drunken Taylor's child. When she went home to tell him, she found something absolutely terrible. Taylor - totally intoxicated and high, had kidnapped a little girl just to laugh at her parents on the news. Enraged, Katie did the unthinkable. She shot him. She killed him. She watched him fall to the ground, bleeding, and then left.
And that was the end of the Taylor phase.
Katie got an abortion, having no money and no life to bring a child into. Depression, prostitution, nicotine, alcohol, homelessness. It all struck. Finally, at sixteen and a half, Katie was caught. A good two years after the anticipated week away, Katie was driven home to grandma in a cop car. The only one she could bring herself to tell all the gruesome details to was Lily, and even that was hard. From there Katie was forced to quit drinking and smoking, and get back into school. She got a boyfriend, she went to homecoming, she started being normal.
And she was, right up until her seventeenth birthday, when Marie passed away in her sleep. Social services wouldn't put up with her living alone (although she had more then proven that she could), so she was sent to boarding school in California. For all she knew she would never see her best friend, Lily, again. For all she knew she would never be home again.
At Heartland Boarding School, Katie developed a new life. A good one, if you want to call it that. She had a nice ring of friends, her best one being a girl named Raeghan, and although she basically never went to classes, she still kept herself clean and healthy.
There Katie met Sawyer. When she fell in love with him she didn't know, but he was a class act con-artist. Perhaps all the tragedy she'd endured already caught up with her, but somehow, when he left her she went completely insane. The depression was sickening. Smoking constantly, drinking beer after beer. When her now-best-friend Raeghan's fiance died, Katie was no help. All she could focus on was her own problems, and it took all she had just to graduate. From there she lived in a town called Shameless for around four years, and then finally, packed herself up and moved here, where she now resides.

example;;
A howling wind was stirring up, whipping against Katie's back and causing the hair on her neck stand up straight. It was deathly cold out, making her shiver underneath her light-weight denim jacket and the thin black t-shirt she wore. Dark brunette hair flew around her face, lashing her frozen cheeks again and again as they danced in the wind. You couldn't hear Katie sniffling over the wind.
Her fingernails dug into her pale palms, stuck inside her pockets and crunched up to keep the slightest bit of warmth inside them. Despite the cold temperatures and bitter wind, there was no where else Katie could go to escape like the beach. She never knew why but wherever she went since leaving home, the coast had to be there.
The sand blew up against her bare feet, having left her black chucks quite a way back, probably buried by now. With every breath the air stung her lungs. Still though, she loved every minute of it. It was like pressing pause on life, coming out here and just walking forever. And right now she needed a long walk. Katie had practically died over the past years, only she knowing what she'd done during that time, and perhaps God himself. Now she kicked herself to stay alive, to come back. It seemed that since she'd left school her life had gone downhill. She longed for that safety net of supervision, but it wasn't there anymore, and she needed to move on from that.
That's what she thought while she walked down the beach, scanning the horizon for any form of life. It was insane - it really was - but Katie had been wanting to do this for a long time. So when she didn't see anyone around, Katie sat down on a washed up log and started by slipping her jeans off. She undressed herself until she was completely naked (and freezing) and then, as crazy as it was, ran like hell into the ice cold ocean. She'd probably have hypothermia at this rate but what did she care? Grinning like a cat, Katie screamed as she went out farther until it was up to her chest. A minute in this and she'd turn into an ice cube surely, but just maybe this would be enough to bring her back to life.
